Week 3

During Week 3, our group used the lab period to finish up any brainstorming. These ideas were incorporated into our Design Proposal, as well as our constraints and parts list. Throughout our Design Proposal, we discussed the goal of our device, and what deliverables we hope to achieve.  The proposal was also used as a method of discussing the details behind our project, such as preliminary designs, parts lists, facilities and resources that will be used, and the steps we will be taking in constructing our design. After finishing our Design Proposal, our group also took the time to start ordering and sourcing the parts that would be needed for our design.

Week 2

During the second week of our Design Project, we set a goal of settling on one idea to work on. Starting from the ideas listed throughout our brainstorming session, we began evaluating whether a project would be possible based on budget, time-span, and what skills we possessed. Since we had an extra week, we took this time to talk to friends and family members about issues they faced within daily life and their professions. The idea that we eventually settled on was constructing an automated pill dispenser, in order to aid elderly and forgetful patients who often forget to take their medicine. During our design lab, we began drawing up possible designs, and listing out the components that we would need. Some of these included an Arduino board, servo motors, and other small components. After consulting with our professor, we received approval to begin writing up a design proposal.

Week 1

During Week 1 of our Design Project, the group was introduced to our end goal, and what kind of device we would focus on creating. We also took time to form our group, and begin drafting up some ideas that we could build future designs off of. In creating our ideas, some areas that we focused on were human mobility, posture improvement, and sleep aids. In the Week 1 Brainstorming tab, you can follow our brainstorming progress and thought-process!
